Mrs. Smith has brought her puppy, Wiggles, in for his second booster shot. She did not bring a fecal sample because the last one on Wiggles was negative. How would you explain the importance of fecal testing to Mrs. Smith?

Mr. Jones is at your clinic for Sassy's annual visit. While you are taking a history, Mr. Jones mentions that Sassy needs more heartworm preventative. You let Mr. Jones know that Stassy will need a heartworm test. Mr. Jones replies, "Why does Sassy need a heartworm test? The preventatives work, don't they?" How would you explain the importance of annual heartworm testing to Mr. Jones even though Sassy is on year-round preventative?
